Patented wound dressing based on sodium hyaluronate

Hyiodine® is a sterile anti-adhesive medical device based on sodium hyaluronate. It sets up an ideal moist wound environment, which helps support wound healing.  Sodium hyaluronate is highly viscous and serves to cover, protect and clean a wound, provide a moist wound environment, and prevent adhesion of secondary dressings. It helps to maintain the extracellular environment sufficiently hydrated. Iodine complex protects the applied sodium hyaluronate from degradation by bacterial enzymes (e.g. hyaluronidase) and works as antimicrobial agent within the dressing and at the wound surface. Hyiodine® has unique anti-adhesive effects.

Hyiodine® can be used for management of all kinds of wounds • diabetic ulcers   • wound dehiscence after surgery   • leg ulcers   • undermined and infected wounds   • bed sores   • difficult-to-heal skin defects   • acute wounds   • dry or heavily exudating wounds   • in all phases of the healing process

What is sodium hyaluronate ?

Sodium hyaluronate is a very common part of the extracellular spaces of the human body. Its aqueous solutions are highly viscous. These actions are responsible for its significant role in skin hydration and in the lubrication of joints and tissues. The viscous nature of sodium hyaluronate solutions is beneficial for wound management in terms of protection of wound surface and maintaining a moist wound environment. As a substance occurring naturally in the body, it is entirely non-toxic.
